Day 4/5

Thursday was a rather uneventful day. We made a button board that would allow us to move our polyurethane ball up and down, but without the part we ordered we couldn't conduct any other tests on our device. We called our work day done early and went home, ready to get the project done the following day

Friday. What a day. Although it had a poor start, the day progressively got better. It was Ethan Kincaid's birthday, so I went out and bought donuts for everyone to share. Unbeknownst to me, Ethan also brought in donuts, so we had 24 donuts to split between 6 people. Our part never shipped out of California, and it wasn't going to come until 8 PM, so we couldn't conduct any tests on our device. We figured out the source of our problem, which was that we had plugged the battery in the wrong way which caused the part to short circuit. All of these problems could have been prevented had we just matched the red and black wires on the battery to the red and black wires on the battery connector. Anyways, we realized we couldn't do any work, so we convinced Mr. Erath to let us go over to his house to get the all the different hot sauces he had promised to bring in for us. After getting a tour of his orchard, berry garden, and fire pit, we got our hot sauces and exited through his basement out into the garage. On the way out we busted a few dance moves on the dance square in his basement and got to see the infamous sail boat that he mentions on occasion. Once we arrived back at school, we had a hot sauce tasting, which led to a lot of tears and Mr. Erath laughing at our pain. Ethan Kincaid in an effort to get rid of his cold was drenching his crackers in the hottest sauce we had brought back in order to clear his sinuses. Ethan couldn't even talk properly because his tongue was hurting, but he kept on going anyways, which just goes to show what a strong and persevering young man he is. Abshir just kept on saying "bruh oh my gawd" as he blinked tears out of his eyes. In the midst of all this we had a debate over various topics instigated by Mr. Erath (surprise). Before we called it quits for the day, I used the cornerstones of Respect and Compassion to kindly call Amazon and demand a refund on our shipping costs since our part missed the one day shipping deadline. I had a very pleasant conversation with the Amazon customer service woman and got a refund and a free month of prime for Umar. After all the hard work talking to customer service, I felt like it was time to call it quits, so we all packed up and made plans to work on our project after school the next school week . We then took Ethan Kincaid to Roots for a birthday lunch and after convincing him that they didn't do a birthday celebration, I convinced the waitress to get the restaurant to say happy birthday to him which made him get all embarrassed. (see video). Overall the final day of capstone was the most memorable of them all, even if we did not complete our project.
